THIS IS AN EVER-EXPANDING LIST FOR AN EXPANDING LIFE.
THESE ARE THE SAME OLD, BUT ALWAYS NEW, PURSUITS TO MAKE IT ALL MORE WORTHWHILE .
Gardening:
It’s never finished. There’s always more to do. It’s about expanding a very detailed, small scale visual realm.
Like a tapestry. Weaving together visual aspects, like color, texture, scale, all richly layered.
Considerations of time and space add new dimensions to creating a scene.
Travel:
A different place on the same planet beyond our frame of reference. A true sense of “altered reality”-not artificially induced or manufactured.
The peacefulness of a long haul flight (12+ hours) goes beyond everyday experience on the ground.
There is total release while not being anywhere specific while flying through space, except right where you are at each moment.
Time with Friends and Family:
There is nothing to compare to the poignantly sweet and renewing energy when we’re with the ones we love.
You should always be able to lean on your best friends and family for support. They should always do the same and call on you.
Cooking:
…but not baking…at least not yet. That’s more precise than intuitive cooking I lean to.
Each meal can be a “project” with a distinct process and product.
Shopping for groceries can be an exercise in conceptual design. Imagine how differing ingredients can be assembled.
The way we fuel our body directly effects our health and well-being. It is ours to control.
Cooking is design in the way it appeals to our senses and satisfies us.
Design:
Gardening, cooking, site planning, whatever it is, is all a labor of love that can satisfy others while providing immeasurable personal satisfaction.
Mosaics, pottery, gardening, cooking and other “crafts” are an opportunity to test one’s own sensibilities on the immediate surrounding world. It’s our visual frame of reference applied to how we like to see things.
A focus on creating a feeling of well-being in every
aspect of the experience of life by what we see around us.
Mind and Body:
We are all unique, physically and mentally. We must find what works best to nurture our development and lead us to more understanding as that enlightened individual.
Yoga, weight training walking and other forms of exercise are alternative means for tapping in to our spiritual well-being
We can control how we treat our bodies in terms of fuel. We should not forget the transformational power of positive thinking.
Nature:
If nature allows you to experience a new level of peace and solitude, it should be embraced to foster the spirit.
When we experience nature in its unadulterated state, we are able to feel a basic connection to who we are and where we’ve come from.
The Mountains:
The mountains can be a special kind of pure, authentic nature.
The Beach:
The beach is a simple, calming scene. The draw to the ocean seems like an ancient link to beginnings we can only imagine, but are always an elemental part of us.
